The card security code is located on the back of MasterCard, Visa and Discover credit or debit cards and is typically a separate
group of 3 digits to the right of the signature strip.
On American Express cards, the card security code is a printed, not embossed, group of four digits on the front towards the right.
Providing your CVV number to an online merchant proves that you actually have the physical credit or debit card - and helps to keep you
safe while reducing fraud.
CVV numbers are NOT your card's secret PIN (Personal Identification Number).
You should never enter your PIN number when asked to provide your CVV. (PIN numbers allow you to use your credit or debit card at an ATM
or when making an in-person purchase with your debit card or a cash advance with any credit card.)
